Xcelerator
Xcelerator Ownz Everything..
As I walked into the queue, I noticed the paint-chipped beat up 50's cars to the left as if they were longing to be worked on by your "Fonze, Grease Monkey" sort of guy. There were also some dilapidated car parts including rims, exhausts, and other various "teaser" theming objects as a symbol to give you that feeling of being in a 1950's garage. I walked further into the queue, (or actually, I ran being among the first GP's to ride it) and it saw the whole layout of Xcelerator, looming above my head, taunting me with its over-banked turns, and sick drops. The first drop (from the top of the top hat) coming down looks like your average Intamin hyper/giga just by looking at it. We ran into the station, still in awe watching the media clean up the last rides, and awaited our turn to try the new beast. Finally, the Op assigned us seats in row 3 (roughly the middle of the train) and we sat down promptly.
As I shook in excitement, and, I must admit: some fear, I felt the strangle of the Ops stapling me into the seat. They first pulled on our seat belts, then made us give it a tug up to guarantee its status. Then, they put my lap bar (or I should say lap cushion) down, forcing it to its limit into my body. I felt strangled, like I was trapped forever, but I knew it was all good for safety, and that took the frustration away.
We watched the Op in the "Office" push the go button, and before I could catch a glimpse of any thumbs up for go, we were already out of the station. Knotts became a blur as we were rocketed past the midway at 82 miles an hour. Then, we went up the vertical top hat, and I felt comfortable enough to finally put my hands up and scream like I've never screamed before. I looked to the side, and I saw Buena Park flip from one side to another, and down we went, swift past the crowds. The ride then hit a slightly over-banked first turn to the left, and then came back down near the queue, and went into another over-banked turn; this time to the right. We hit the brakes, and I looked at the staring crowd and internally boasted my achievement of riding one of the world's most intense new coasters. We pulled back into the station, and I got off shaking all around, as if my life was just in danger.
