First off, I would like to thank all of you who have visited RCPro all these years. This October RCPro will celebrate it's 10 year anniversary, and we're excited to see this amazing site continue to grow and more and more visitors reading up on the latest amusement industry news and media. To celebrate RCPro's anniversary, we'd like to do something very special this year. For those who have been visiting us over the past few years, you may already know past promises that we made, but were unable to fulfill due to various reasons...until now. Without any more delay, I'd like to announce that RCPro X will finally become a reality!
Preliminary Design Concept; Subject to Change
RCPro X, the 10th version of RCPro will be launched in Q4 of 2010 to celebrate RCPro's 10th birthday. So what makes RCPro X so special? Well first of all, RCPro will be undergoing a major overhaul of it's backend programming as well as a stylish new user interface. Not only does this allow for easier management on behalf of the management team, but it also allows several new capabilities that we previously were unable to achieve. let's take a look at some of the new features you can expect from RCPro...
New 'Featured Updates' Display -- One of the most noticeable changes to the homepage (other than the entirely new design) will be the change to the recent site updates display. Unlike the previous methods of display that rely on small images and a limited amount of text, RCPro X's Featured Updates will give users a better preview of what exciting new features have been posted by both team members as well as highlighted user contributions to the site.
Better Industry News & RSS Functionality -- Anyone who has read through the past industry news on the current site knows that it's a pain to try and find what you're looking for. Trying to find that article from 4 months ago? Well no longer do you have to click a series of numbers to try and guess what page the article is on. Improved news archiving and the ability to search past news stories will allow easier referencing and reading of amusement industry news. And for those that utilize RSS feeds to stay up to date with the latest news in products such as Google Reader, we're going to dramatically improve the functionality of the RSS feed.
Site/Database Search Capability - As mentioned in the previous feature, not only will news be archived and searchable, ALL RCPro content will be able to be searched through using a standard search entry line located in the upper navigation menu. Articles, news stories, construction updates, photo galleries, ride & park database entries, etc...you name it, it'll be searchable!
New Featured Updates Display Showcasing Latest Features & Submissions
Ride & Park Database + More -- One thing that RCPro has neglected in the recent past is informational content. This is one of the major areas that we as a team have been trying to decide how to attack. So we present to you, a ride and park database. There are several different database websites across the internet, however we feel there are some key opportunities to add new functionality to the basic database structure. What we're going to do is make it more interactive. We're going to allow you, the user to add your own pictures, your own videos, as well as your trip reports, ride reviews, and general comments for others to view. Naturally you'll have the ability to place your watermark on your pictures or supply a link to your website/email with the submission. In addition to all of these interactive features, we will also have a unique rating system for the rides and parks rating them on various aspects instead of an overall general rating. Submitted content will be verified by RCPro staff to ensure that they do not violate copyright or international laws before activating them within 24 hours of submission. All submitted content may even get showcased on the homepage!
Several other new features such as higher emphasis on editorials & articles, improved social media integration, community integration, an exciting new RCPro VideoCast program, as well as a Premium Membership program are in the works. We're always interested in adding exciting new concepts and features to the site, so if you have ANY ideas or suggestions for features that you've seen at other sites, or even better, never seen before, let us know...we'll take a serious look at it for RCPro X! This site belongs to you, the viewer, and we'll always do our best to provide you with the very best!
So keep submitting ideas and suggestions, RCPro X will be better because of it! We'll be elaborating more about the planned features already mentioned as well as other new additions as we get closer to launch! So once again, thank you to all of the viewers for 9 wonderful years, and let's make the future even better!
If you would like to contribute suggestions or ideas, please visit the RCPro Contact Page to submit your recommendations. We look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely, Your RCPro Team
