As you enter Six Flags Magic Mountain’s parking lot, the first ride you notice besides X, is Viper. Its white supports, holding the red track 188 feet in the air. You just know this is the one your going to run to when the gates open. Once you get to the station, you hear the roar of one of the trains rocketing around the 3,380 foot track at speeds of 70 mph.
When you enter the green and orange car themed as a, “viper” snake, you pull on the rather un-comfortable restraints, and your off! Immediately after dispatch you start your climb up the quiet lift hill. Almost a minute later you arrive at the top with an incredible view of that section of the park. Next you slowly start to drop on the 180 degree turn drop. You rocket down to the earth at 70 mph. When you reach the bottom, you are thrown into your seats as you go up into the worlds tallest loop. After the loop, you make a sharp turn into two more vertical loops. This is very dis-orienting and some people grey out at this point of the ride.
Next, of course, you hit the brake run and start to slowly go down a very un-steep drop. As you pick up speed you roll slowly into the batwing element. Smile! A camera takes your picture during this double inversion. Followed by this element comes a quick turn to the right followed by two very fun corkscrews. Since the train is going at low speed, this results is hang-time for the double corkscrews. Finally, you reach the brake run. Wait! That’s not it, this catches riders of surprise as the train make a final steep drop into the REAL final brake run.
Viper is a must ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain. It is recommended that you bring a bottle of aspirin if you are un-familiar how to keep your head from banging on the restraints.
Overall ride: Great Layout, good set of elements.
