Stealth
Stealth is the worlds first, well, and only flying coaster.
This Vekoma design is called a "flying coaster" because it is
supposed to simulate the sensation of flying. And in this case,
it does! One
cold and foggy morning in the summer, my friends and I decided
to go up to Paramount's Great America to experience this thing
for ourselves! As we were on our way up to Santa Clara, CA I kept
telling myself that I was going to run in PGA and run strait to
stealth, no matter how long the line. I would have waited all
day for this thing, but luckily we were only stuck in a two hour
wait. Finally, we were next to ride. As I waited anxiousley, I
looked at the way the people in front of us got on the ride.
It is very strange. When you first climb in, you are sitting
like you would on a sitdown, only backwards! As the train cranked
up the silent lift hill our seats were slowley moving down so we
were now on our backs. It scared me at first, but then I got used
to it. Down the first drop we went! Wow! Because you start the drop backwards on your back, It makes it very cool. We first did a minor drop
then went into a zero-gravity roll so our bodies were facing the
ground. (Yeh, it scared the hell out of me) We made the first turn, and down we go! It is such a rush, I was really getting into it. I felt like superman. As we soared over tight highly
banked turns, were in such a rush, just waiting for the next sweet element. After that terrifying first drop, and a couple
of turns, we fliped(zero gavity roll) at a high speed into a
vertical loop. I have to say, this loop was probably one of the
most intense invirsions I have ever been on. It's the fact that
you are on your back and the g's pull on your whole body instead
of just your waist. After the "death loop" we headed over to some
more turns and a couple of dips. One of which you get so low to the ground that if you were to put your hand out a couple of feet, it's gone! Next we headed up into a half-loop sort of thing. I thought that was kinda cool. A couple more elements later,
we came to my favorite part of the ride. The corckscrew. When you
go into it, you don't enter on your back, you enter it upside down into the first corckscrew, and then shoot into the other.
Another turn, brakes, and into the station we go. That day the guy who was operating our train was a complete moron! we came
into the station at about 11mph and he stopped our train instantly! Talk about your major velocity change. I got out of
the train and felt great. I asked all my friends if they liked it."YES!!" Well, that answered that question! The rest of that day at great america we rode some other sweet rides: The classic "Grizzly,"
"Top Gun," "Vortex," and more. But out of all those rides, Stealth really packed a punch. I will never forget this ride!
My recomendation for this ride is to ride it as soon as possible.
It is a totally new experience that I am sure anyone would enjoy!
