Description:
Welcome to Adventure Point Beach Boardwalk! Situated on its own peninsula extending out into the deep blue Atlantic, the Boardwalk comprises of rides and attractions for guests for all ages!
The Point began its days as a simple field for children to play in, with a beach in the back. In 1962, the park built a grand sand castle entrance
and a Philadelphia Toboggan Company Carrousel, originally located in Baltimore's Liberty Heights Park for the 1919 season. Carrousel, along with the Eli Bridge Wave Wheel and Scrambler opened with the park in that memorable year, the year the park transformed from a playground with a beach into an amusement park coinciding with a beach. Three years later, the park decided to build a water attraction, as the beach was getting cramped. This ride became known as "Log Mountain", today known as "Mystery Mountain Log Ride." Several years later, at the beginning of the Coaster Renaissance, 1972, a wooden coaster designed by John Allen, built by PTC, came into the park. This was the last coaster ever to be built with man-powered brakes, but that doesn't make it any less popular. The ride features an 85 foot lift hill, 62 foot first drop, and 51 foot drop right over the water! Beach Hurler, this wooden masterpiece, became an instant success. Later in the year, the park took the profits from Beach Hurler, and built another wooden coaster, the Wild Cat. However, due to extreme flooding by Hurricane Agnes in autumn, the ride could not be completed. All of the wood was taken away to sea. The next big year in the park was 1980, when the park built its second operating coaster, this one being racing. Steeplechase, built after the original Steeplechase coasters at the turn of the century, consists of two tracks, and both are run simultaneously, creating a horse derby like none other!
Over the next two decades, the park added new attractions, moved attractions, and sold new attractions. In the year 2002, the park built a Vekoma Giant Inverted Boomerang dubbed "Delusion." One half of the coaster is blue,
while the other half is red, creating a hypnosis effect on the riders and standbyers. Four years later, the park built a huge new coaster, Surf's
Up, a Gerstlauer Eurofighter, being the first, along with one other in Tennessee, Eurofighter in America. For this year, the park built Tsunami: Ride the Wave, an innovative Disko ride.
