The park opened as Wild World in 1982 primarily
as a water park. After the park went bankrupt 8 years later, 1991
Tierco Group, Inc. bought the park and reopened it with new rides
and a new name- Adventure World. Finally, after the park was a more
traditional amusement park, Six Flags theme parks purchased it in
1999 and added several new coasters over the years, including Superman-
Ride of Steel, Batwing, and Joker's Jinx.
