Just 5 years after Walt's death in 1966, Roy Disney, thenhead of
the Walt Disney Company, decided to go through with the Walt Disney
World project, and in 1971, the Magic Kingdom park was opened. A
near mirror image of Disneyland Park in California, the park featured
2 resorts just across Lake Buena Vista. Over the years, the park
added rides like Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad,
which revolutionized the Disney parks of today.
